News from the Underground Metal Scene:

Global Thrash Assault's "THRASH METAL MADNESS" is now into round 2. Head on over and check out all the bands competing. Make sure you take some time and truly check out the music these bands are putting out. If you're into metal and thrash music...Global Thrash Assault should be in your book marks.

The AxO crew will be out and about this coming weekend in Des Moines for some killer Thrash and Metal shows. Friday, March 29th, @ the Hull Ave Tavern checking out Des Moines rockers Handlebar and Superchief with Meganut from Austin, Texas.

 Saturday, March 30 we will be out at the THRASH-N-BASH put on by Midwestern Metal moshers DARK MIRROR, and includes a number of great metal, thrash and doom bands from aroudn the midwest....All in one place, at a killer house party. Two great metal shows this weekend. If you're in the Des Moines Area...CHECK IT OUT! If you do attend, please make sure you say hi to the AxO crew!!!

Coming Up in April, Des Moines based Metal Unit DARK MIRROR will be hitting the road with Iowa-based Doom Metal band ANCIENT ELM and ripping it up around the midwest. Both bands are currently in the studio working on their next releases. The tour starts April 12th in Omaha, NE. Here is a complete list tour dates (as of 3-25-13):

The Metal Scene

People, there is so much great music and so many great bands out there...you just gotta go out and check it out. Don't go out expecting to find (insert your fave famous band here) on the cheap, in fact do not reserve any expectations about what you're going to find. Go expecting a complete adventure...something new and off the beaten path. Discover new music, meet new people based solely upon sharing music as the commonality. Don't be shy...stand at the front of the stage....talk to that crazy fucker with tats and piercings that you wouldn't normally talk to....he is probably a pretty fun interesting dude. Let yourself be drawn in to the scene and see where it takes you; without expectations, without preconceived notions.

The local metal scene is a thriving culture in itself...one that spans every walk of life. Discover new bands and be just as big a fan as the ones you''ll pay ungodly amounts of money to support. Why not? Because your friends think local bands are crap? Because its not mainstream? Fuck that...be the one sharing this amazing music with others. Not to make anyone famous, but because its good music.
